HI, I'm Jenn

PORTRAIT Photographer

Hi, I'm Jenn.

I'm a portrait photographer based in Sayulita, Mexico, specializing in families, couples, proposals, maternity, and destination photography throughout Bahía de Banderas.

I love creating beautiful, polished photographs while making the experience itself relaxed, organized, and genuinely enjoyable. Whether I'm photographing a couple who has never had professional portraits taken, a family with young children, or a group of 15 or more, I know how to take charge of the shoot, keep things moving, and make sure everyone gets the photographs they came for.

Working with families and large groups is one of my favorite parts of what I do. I’m comfortable organizing multiple family combinations, working with different ages and personalities, keeping little ones engaged, and adapting quickly when plans, weather, light, or locations change. I give clear direction throughout the session, but I'm also looking for the spontaneous moments and individual personalities that make the final collection feel personal.

For proposals and couples, I bring that same combination of planning and direction while keeping the focus on the people and the moment. I can help with choosing the location and timing, planning the flow of the shoot, and creating a collection of photographs that tells the whole story.

I've been a professional photographer for many years, including nine years as a commercial studio photographer for Gap in San Francisco. I've also worked independently throughout my career, developing the style and approach I bring to my portrait work today.

I know Bahía de Banderas well and photograph throughout Sayulita, San Pancho, Punta de Mita, and the surrounding coast. I love finding the right location and light for each session and creating photographs that feel elevated, natural, and true to the people I'm photographing.

Most importantly, I genuinely love what I do and I love working with people. My goal is for you to have a great experience during the shoot and leave with photographs you are genuinely excited to have.

I'd love to photograph you while you're here in Mexico.

FAQ

How much does a session cost?

Session pricing depends on the type and length of photography you’re looking for. Family, couple,

proposal and other portrait sessions are available in several options. For larger groups or more

involved coverage, I can recommend the best fit

What if my kids won't cooperate for photos?

They don’t have to. I keep sessions moving and give kids room to be themselves rather than expecting them to sit still and smile for every photograph. As a mom to a 5-year-old daughter myself, I’m very familiar with this age and know how to work with their energy, attention span, and personalities. We’ll mix directed portraits with interaction and candid moments so the gallery feels natural and true to your family.

What time of day is best for family photos?

I typically offer sessions at sunrise or sunset, when the light is softest and most flattering. Golden hour creates beautiful, warm light along the coast, while sunrise is a great option for families who prefer a quieter beach and cooler temperatures.

How far in advance should I book?

I recommend reserving your session 3–6 weeks ahead whenever possible. During the busiest months, December through April, I suggest booking closer to 6–8 weeks in advance, especially around the holidays and Spring Break. If your trip is coming up soon, feel free to reach out—I’ll always let you know what dates I have available.

Do you shoot at Vidanta or in Nuevo Vallarta?

Yes! I photograph clients staying at Vidanta and throughout Nuevo Vallarta, as well as other resorts and private properties in the area. Since each property has its own photography policies, I’ll help coordinate the location details with you before your session.

Do you shoot at Four Seasons, St. Regis, or Conrad Punta Mita?

Yes! I photograph regularly throughout Punta Mita and the Riviera Nayarit, including Four Seasons, St. Regis, Conrad Punta de Mita, Susurros del Corazón, One&Only Mandarina, Rosewood Mandarina, W Punta de Mita, Los Veneros, and private residences within the Punta Mita gates. If your property has an outside-photographer or vendor fee, I can also recommend beautiful nearby beach locations where we can create the same elevated coastal look without the additional resort fee.

What should my family wear?

Once you’re booked, I’ll send you a wardrobe guide with outfit inspiration and curated color palettes to help you plan what to wear.

Can you photograph large or multi-generational families?

Absolutely. Larger families can be photographed as one group while also allowing time for individual households, grandparents and grandchildren, siblings, couples and other combinations. Extended-family sessions are planned differently from a standard portrait session so everyone gets photographed.

HOW WILL WE RECEIVE OUR IMAGES?

Your images will be delivered through a private online gallery, ready to download and share with family and friends. I carefully hand-edit each photograph before delivery, with attention to color, light, skin tones, and the natural look of the final images.

What if it rains on our session day?

Tropical weather can change quickly, so we’ll keep an eye on the forecast as your session approaches. If rain affects your scheduled time, we can move your session to another time during your stay or choose a beautiful alternate location. And if we get a little rain around sunset, don’t worry—it can create some incredible light and atmosphere.

WHAT TYPES OF PHOTOGRAPHY DO YOU OFFER?

I photograph families, extended families, couples, proposals, maternity, lifestyle sessions, headshots, brand photography, and weddings.

CAN YOU PHOTOGRAPH PROPOSALS & COUPLES?

Yes. From surprise proposals to anniversary trips and engagement sessions, I photograph couples at every stage of their story. I'll help with location recommendations, timing, and planning so you can focus on enjoying the experience while I document it.

My approach

My approach to photography is relaxed, collaborative, and centered around creating an enjoyable experience. I photograph most sessions just after sunrise or before sunset, when the colors along the beaches of Mexico bring soft, natural tones that create a beautiful backdrop. I love blending people and landscapes in a way that feels genuine and timeless — focusing on connection, movement, and the in-between moments that tell a story. With over 15 years of experience, I guide my clients through every step — from planning outfits to shaping their vision — so each session feels effortless, fun, and true to who they are.
